The Birds of Brazil, by Kevin Groeneweg.
A vast seasonally flooded wetland, the Pantanal in Brazil is renowned among birders around the world as an easy place for good views of large numbers of waterbirds. Having the greatest concentration of fauna in the Americas, many spectacular species can be seen, including the Jabiru, Hyacinth Macaw and Jaguar. Supplying water to this wetland, the surrounding Cerrado encompasses Brazil’s largest biome and is one of the world’s richest savannas. Kevin visited the Pantanal and nearby areas of the Cerrado on a birding tour in 2019, and will show highlights from that trip, as well as those from a more recent trip to the Atlantic forest region of southeast Brazil.
Kevin Groeneweg is the current Treasurer and past-President of Wichita Audubon. His birding obsession began nearly 30 years ago when he put up a Purple Martin house in the backyard. This opened a window into the world of birds, and Kevin has been pursuing them ever since, traveling all over the US and other parts of the world.
